John's favorite subjects are images of the Western landscape. His background as a geologist is evident in his approach to interpreting the mountains, canyons and deserts of the West. His use of large simplified shapes and vivid colors follows in the tradition of Maynard Dixon and his longtime friend and mentor, Milford Zornes. John is a Signature member of the Montana and the Nevada Watercolor Societies. He now makes his home in the Texas Hill Country and is represented by the Nueva Street Gallery in San Antonio.
